San Rock Art – Bushman Paintings, Giants Castle (full day)

The Drakensberg Mountains are ancient – older in geological terms than both the Himalayas and the European Alps. It is most fitting that this area is part and parcel of the Drakensberg World Heritage Site and is the traditional home of the amaHlubi, a tribe with a fascinating history.  Apart from the magnificent views and mountainous backdrops, a highlight of Giants Castle is the incredible Bushmen rock art at the main caves that provides insight into the world of the San people, their culture and way of life. The cave is one of the biggest and best preserved painting sites in southern Africa. The walk to the main caves is not strenuous and takes approximately 45 minutes to get there.
